Animal Control/Nuisance Officer
The City of Lexington is seeking interested candidates for the position of nuisance enforcement/animal control officer. This full-time position is responsible for apprehending loose or dangerous animals inside Lexington per city ordinances and for the daily cleaning of the pound and caring for impounded animals per city ordinances. In addition, this position will respond to nuisance calls, enforce nuisance and animal control ordinances, prepare reports and paperwork as required, issue citations and warnings related to nuisances and animal control violations, and work with other departments and employees in the enforcement of city codes and ordinances.
Minimum qualifications: Successful applicants must have the following: U.S. citizenship or lawfully authorized permanent resident, High school diploma or GED, valid motor vehicle operator’s license, pass background check and drug test, the ability to stand for long periods of time and to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
